posicI think that much of what mathematicians produce nowadays is of very poor quality. Often done with deliberate disregard to the quality of what one produces.
Even more than to other things, this applies to referees' reports. The referees' reports tend to be irresponsible exercises of arbitrary power. Not based on any understanding of the material, etc.
I want to... I do not know how to say. Whatever I could do, certainly would not help. But I have the motivation to... perhaps, give some examples of good quality work. I am striving to write responsible referee's reports.
So I write responsible papers and receive irresponsible referees' reports on my papers. Other people write irresponsible papers and I write responsible referee's reports on irresponsible papers.
This is very depressing and disappointing. But I have not given up yet.
