"I would say that an undergrauate who has had substantial exposure to concepts of analysis and algebra, at least a little bit of topology, and has begun to learn how to think abstractly and reason clearly is well prepared for a PhD program in mathematics... However, as someone who has worked in graduate admissions at my good-but-not-fantastic department, I can tell you that we see many apparently reasonably talented applicants with much less preparation than this."
Т.е. более-менее приличный класс в одной из столичных российских матшкол является достаточной подготовкой для обучения в аспирантуре в США. Впрочем, может быть, я делаю методологическую ошибку, сравнивая российские матшколы как я их знал в начале 90-х с американской ситуацией 2010-го.
