posic- In the Fall of 2013, the leadership of the teaching processes at the HSE Mathematics Faculty didn't understand that I wouldn't continue working there for any length of time under the conditions I was offered during that semester. I did have potential prospects for academic employment in my field in the civilized world, even if rather vague ones (what they also didn't understand), and these vague prospects were, in principle, sufficient for me to abandon my then-current jobs, stand up, turn around, and leave (what they, once again, didn't understand).
- In 2014-18, mathematicians more senior than me in age or status, all around the world, and particularly in Israel, didn't understand that I would fight to the death for my right to pursue my studies of contramodules and other similarly marginal subjects close to my heart, rather than another trendy topic promoted by the noisy crowds gathered around Superstar-1 or Superstar-2. They also didn't understand that I was completely unwilling and unable to engage in meaningless activities like "teaching calculus to food industry engineers".
- In 2022-25, mathematicians both more senior and more junior than me in age or status, all around the world, don't understand that I'm not their typical successful and internationally renowned mathematician of a certain caliber, willing to consider and accept proposals that such mathematicians typically find reasonably attractive. I don't find any of that reasonable, attractive, or even possible. How can I explain this to those who haven't closely followed my life's trajectory from 2013 to 2022? Or even from 2007 to 2022, or even from 1995 to 2022? I don't know how to explain this, but I'm trying.
