I was never able to do those, either, but I remained quite comfortable about it throughout. I was always happy to be different from everyone else, and I thought it was a problem of the teachers of the compulsory PE classes (which I hated and despised) rather than mine.
Some easier exercises presented a worse problem, from my perspective, in that the teacher could entertain the idea that he/she might be able to force me to do some of these. Pull-ups and chin-ups I rather liked because they were just so obviously out of reach and out of question, and there was nothing any PE teacher could do about it. So, at least with those, they had to leave me alone, and I could safely brag about having never done it in my life.
